Biofarm reports significant increases for the first nine months of the year compared to the same period of 2020. Biofarm registered a turnover of 179 million RON in the first nine months of 2021 and a net profit of 54.8 million RON, 20% more compared to the same period last year. Biofarm, which marks this year 100 years of uninterrupted activity, reported EBITDA of over 75 million RON,  20% higher compared to the first nine months of last year.

"Over the last nine months, we have finalized the most important investment of the last 30 year in the local pharmaceutical industry- a new production unit built from scratch, with modern facilities and equipment. Additionally, we have finalized the process of revitalizing the company’s corporate image as well as the image of the most strategic brands in the portfolio, managing thus to consolidate our position in the top players of the local pharmaceutical industry, more specifically in the Consumer Healthcare Category (CHC). The financial results motivate us to continue Biofarm's mission to do well through performance and with standards at the highest level ", said Cătălin Vicol, Biofarm's general manager.

In volume, Biofarm is on the 2nd place in the Consumer Healthcare Category, consolidating its position with a 6% growth versus the same period last year. In value, Biofarm has consolidated its sales to the final consumer and registered a 19% increase in terms of pharmacies purchase price.

Over the past nine months, the investments in marketing and promotion have increased to maintain the competitiveness level of the focus brands as well as to support the launch of the new OTC medicine Biofen Extra, a combination of ibuprofen and paracetamol. This new medicine introduces Biofarm in the market segment with the highest business potential in the CHC category - medicines for pain therapy.
