Composition:
1 ml solution contains 50 mg Iron. 1 ml equals 20 drops, 1 drop contains 2.5 mg Iron
Indications:
Treatment of iron deficiency anaemia (manifest iron deficiency)
Dosage:
Dosage and treatment duration depend on the severity of the Iron deficiency. The recommended daily dose of Iron is on average 100 mg, but in severe conditions 150-200 mg of Iron can be administered. The total amount of Iron that a pacient with Iron-deficiency anaemia should receive is calculated taking into account the fact that each absent gram of hemoglobin requires a quantity of 150 mg Iron, plus 400 mg - 1 g in order to restore the deposits. Iron-deficiency anaemia Children under 1 year: 25-50 mg/ day (10-20 drops/ day) Children between 1-12 years: 50-100 mg/ day (20-40 drops/ day) Adolescents, adults, breastfeeding mothers: 100-300 mg/ day (40-120 drops/ day) Pregnant women: 200-300 mg/ day (80-120 drops/ day) Prematures: 2,5-5 mg/kg daily (1-2 drops/ kg) Profilaxy Children under 1 year: 5-10 mg/ day (2-4 drops/ day) Children between 1-12 years: 10-15 mg/ day (4-6 drops/ day) Adolescents, adults, breastfeeding mothers: 10-15 mg/ day (4-6 drops/ day) Pregnant women: 50-100 mg/ day (20-40 oral drops/ day) For maximum absorption, it should be administered between meals (2 hours before and 1 hour after meals), but it can also be administered during or immediately after meals, in order to minimize gastrointestinal side effects.
